ISLEWORH SOCIETY EVENTS

SUMMER GET TOGETHER

            FRIDAY 28TH JULY 2017   : 6.30 – 8.30 p.m.

Upstairs, Town Wharf Public House, Swan Street

            Members – no charge             Guests -  £6.00

For catering purposes we need to know numbers.  Jacqueline Wills – Tel. 020 8893 8700 – is taking bookings.  See enclosed sheet for fuller details.

We have exclusive use of the top floor of the Town Wharf Public House providing a semi-outdoor environment with a convivial atmosphere and stunning views.  It’s a chance to meet old friends, make some new and socialise over a glass of wine or soft drink, with the added attraction of a plentiful buffet. The bar will be open to purchase further drinks after the initial wine supply runs out.

ISLEWORTH 390 PROJECT UPDATE AND FUTURE EVENTS

Research continues into the lives behind the 99 names of servicemen known to have died in 1917.  The Remembrance Sunday event on November 12th will have a centenary focus on them.   If you have any information about any of the servicemen listed on the Clock Tower War Memorial, do please contact isleworth390@gmail.com, or phone 020 8847 0157.  Similarly, for further advance information about the two autumn events planned by the project group to mark the Battle of Passchendaele (July to November 1917), do please use the same contact details.

The first event is 6th October, an illustrated talk by Andrew Robertshaw national historian, broadcaster and educator ‘Eye Deep in Hell : The soldier at Passchendaele 1917). The second will be in late November, an evening of folk music by Robb Johnson, a British musician and song writer.  This will include a performance of ‘Gentle Men’, a devised piece about his two grandfathers, local West London men, who fought in and survived Passchendaele.

Both will be ticketed events with the profits used to fund the project.
